The Marangu Route, also called the Coca-Cola Route, is the oldest and most established route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route with hut accommodation and bunk beds, so climbers do not need camping tents. The trek normally takes 5 or 6 days, but 6 days is recommended. The hike starts at Marangu Gate and goes through rainforest to Mandara Hut, then to Horombo Hut and Kibo Hut. On summit day, climbers hike to Gilman’s Point, Stella Point, and finally Uhuru Peak (5,895m). After reaching the summit, climbers descend to Horombo Hut and later return to Marangu Gate. The trek includes guides, porters, meals, park fees, and hut stays.

• Day 1: Arrive at Marangu Gate and Hike to Mandara hut (1,860m - 2,700m)

• Day 2: Hike from Mandara hut to Horombo hut (2,700 – 3,720m)

• Day 3: Hike from Horombo hut to Kibo hut (3,720 - 4,703m)

• Day 4: Summit Day; Hike from Kibo hut to Uhuru peak (5,895m) and descend to Horombo hut

• Day 5: Descend from Horombo hut to Marangu gate (3,720 – 1,860m)

• Climb Mount Kilimanjaro using the Marangu Route, also known as the Coca-Cola Route.

• Stay in mountain huts with bunk beds, the only route on Kilimanjaro with hut accommodation.

• Start the trek at Marangu Gate and hike through rainforest to Mandara Hut.

• Hike from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut and see moorland with giant groundsel and giant lobelia plants.

• Cross the alpine desert between Mawenzi and Kibo on the way to Kibo Hut.

• Attempt the summit to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) via Gilman’s Point and Stella Point.

• Watch the sunrise from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

• Descend from the summit to Horombo Hut and later back to Marangu Gate.
