The trek starts at Trekkers Hostel Kyanjuki, 12 kilometers from Kasese town, past Kilembe copper mines. It is best to start by 8:30am, but you can leave as late as 10am. After meeting your guides for a briefing, you walk 2.2km to the UWA ranger post at 1,727m.
Day 1: Hike to Sine Camp (2,596m)
Day 2: Hike to Mutinda Camp (3,588m)
Day 3: Hike to Kiharo Camp (3,460m)
Day 4: Descend to Basecamp (1,450m)
Start the trek at Trekkers Camp at 1,450 meters and hike through the Afro Montane Forest to Sine Hut at 2,596 meters.
Walk through tall forest trees with chances to see blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and hear chimpanzees in the distance.
See Enock’s Falls near Sine Camp and enjoy views of waterfalls surrounded by green forest.
Pass through different vegetation zones including Afro Montane forest, bamboo forest, and the Heather Rapanea zone.
Hike through valleys with giant heather trees, moss covered rocks, and hanging lichens.
Reach Mutinda Camp and hike to Mutinda Lookout at 3,975 meters for views of the Rwenzori Mountains, Kasese town, and Lake George.
Follow trails through Hunwick’s Pass between high peaks where you may see hawks, eagles, hyrax, and red duiker.
Visit Kiharo Falls and hike down the Nyamwamba Valley with views of rivers, forests, and deep valleys.
See a series of waterfalls including Cathy’s Falls, Nyamwamba Falls, Ajarova Falls, Plozza Falls, and Bridal Falls.
Walk through bamboo forest where Rwenzori duiker and other wildlife live.
Finish the trek at Forest View Camp at 2,580 meters with wide views of the forest and Kilwembe valley.
